Picture Posts Are On Hold

Apparently, I can't post pictures to blogger from the iPad. so you'll have to wait to see pictures until Scott arrives with my laptop this weekend.

Week three part one

Saturday

last night's group consisted of first year social welfare students. they are nice students, but I have my work cut out for me. they are totally out of their element in English class. there was plenty of laughter and good feeling and communication attempts by the end of class which is the best that could be expected.

after work, Alex took me out to a flashy shopping and restaurant district of town whose name escapes me at the moment.  We had italianish food and ice cream with pop rocks in it. then, as I've looked forward to doing, Alex and I went to a "norae booth". a norae booth is a little private karaoke booth.  you pay 1000won ($1) to sing three songs. we had fun singing "total eclipse of the heart" and spice girls. the best part about the booth was that the music we were singing to had absolutely nothing to do with the sappy Korean music videos playing on the screen.

today I went shopping with Alex in dunang-dong, the downtown area.  it's a little too posh for my taste.

Monday

no teaching today, but this is my last Monday without hours for a while. they have added a few hours to my teaching schedule. still, the workload is guaranteed to be less than the place where I last taught.

yesterday, I had fun hanging out with Alex and a new friend named sherry. we went out to a Korean restaurant, and I had a tuna bipimbap, a type of salad.  it had radish, tuna, chili sauce, eggs, rice, and some other things. it was pretty tasty. I can't say that I love the Korean food I've had so far, but I like it. I've tried various soups, both hot and cold, noodles, and gimbap, rice rolls that can contains veggies or meat. sherry helped explain the menu to me at the restaurant.  she's korean and speaks Korean and seems culturally knowledgeable, although she grew up in Texas.
