We had a great time visiting Don, Hope, and the kids for Easter! Scott and I spent
Friday
night and Saturday in Monticello, leaving Sunday morning. Don and Hope were good hosts as always. Some highlights of the visit were a good catfish dinner on Friday, alligator viewing at Arkansas Post, an excellent home-cooked Easter meal, and a backyard bonfire.
It was very fun to see the kids who get so much bigger every time that we see them. Kenny is quite tall! He's a board game enthusiast. He beat me in Stratego, and I taught him how to win in three moves in chess. The weather was pleasant so Kenny, Scott, and I played basketball out back. I like that I can dunk on their hoop! Beth is quite a bright kid. I noticed how voraciously she was reading through her new nature book that she got at Arkansas Post. At our Saturday night bonfire, she sat on my lap most of the time. What friendly kids! Little Stephen, too. He was happy to include Scott in his green plastic soldier army game.

There are indeed alligators in these waters. Look at Don's blog for up close pictures. |

We happened to stop at a Tuscaloosa McDonald's on the trip and found this. |
